Wipeout , released in 1972 for the Magnavox Odyssey console, is a racing game that challenges players to navigate a car around a track. The game takes place on a simple board, where players move their token to try and reach the finish line first.
The gameplay revolves around an on-screen race, where one player tries to avoid obstacles while the other counts how many times they can make a ball spot oscillate on the screen. Each time the ball spot moves, points are deducted from the racer's score. If a player collides with the ball spot or leaves the track, their score takes a further hit.
