Gears of War , released on 2007 , is set in a dystopian future where humanity is under attack by a subterranean enemy known as the Locust Horde. Players take control of Marcus Fenix, a soldier who must stop the Locust invasion and uncover the secrets behind his father's death.
Gears of War features third-person shooter gameplay, where players can move around the battlefield, shoot enemies, and use cover to protect themselves from enemy fire. The game also introduces a unique combat mechanic called "Cover System," which allows players to take cover behind objects and pop out to attack enemies.
