The The Hilton Family is an educational simulation game used for training new employees at the US Hilton Garden Inn hotels. Limited to 500 copies, it was not sold in retail and requires a specific memory stick to launch the game alongside the UMD disc. The game is played from the perspective of a first-person character inside a recreated Hilton Garden Inn. At the reception desk, players can choose a name and one of four roles: housekeeping, food & beverage, guest service, or engineering. Each role has tasks with SALT (Satisfaction and Loyalty Tracking) scores that are compared to real ratings based on customer appreciation and patience.
The gameplay varies depending on the chosen role. For housekeeping, players clean rooms, put furniture back in place, open curtains, vacuum carpets, and remove redundant hangers from closets. In food & beverage, they greet customers, serve drinks and food, and manage orders on a computer. The player must also consider the temperature of dishes to avoid serving cold plates. Guest service involves checking in customers, answering questions, booking rooms, restocking items, and reporting engineering problems. Engineering mode involves fixing appliances, unclogging toilets, replacing bulbs, and responding to walkie-talkie messages for sudden problems.
