Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a third-person action game set in the future city of New Amsterdam. The story follows Red, who joins the Bomb Rush Crew after being saved by Tryce and having his head beheaded by DJ Cyber. He aims to retrieve his head and memories from DJ Cyber while conquering the city with the help of writers Tryce and Bel.

The player must control five districts in New Amsterdam by placing graffiti over their rivals' tags, earning reputation and challenging rival gangs. The player can travel on a skateboard, BMX bike, or rollerskates, as well as use a jet pack for faster traversal. As the meter increases, so does the police's forces, with helicopter gunships deployed at maximum level.

The game features a similar setting and cel-shaded artstyle to Jet Set Radio . The soundtrack includes upbeat electro and hip-hop music, featuring contributions from Hideki Naganuma of Jet Set Radio , as well as Sonic Rush fame.
