imageepoch Inc. was a Japanese developer that created role-playing games such as Arc Rise Fantasia and initiated the Criminal Girls franchise. The studio also worked on titles like Black Rock Shooter: The Game, 7th Dragon 2020, and co-developed Me & My Katamari.
Founded in 2005 by Ryoei Mikage, the studio established its industry presence by co-developing
Me & My Katamari (2006) and its budget re-release
Me & My Katamari [The Best] (2006). Expanding into diverse genres, the developer produced the mystery adventure
Case Closed: One Truth Prevails (2009).
The studio's signature RPG output gained traction with the Japanese release of
Arc Rise Fantasia (2009), followed by its North American localization
Arc Rise Fantasia (2010). This era marked the launch of the
Criminal Girls franchise, beginning with the tactical RPG
Criminal Girls (2010), which defined the studio's niche of provocative, gameplay-heavy PlayStation Portable titles.
Further cementing its relationship with major publishers, the company developed high-profile anime and media tie-ins. These included the tactical action RPG
Black Rock Shooter: The Game [White Premium Box] (2011) and the dystopian RPG
7th Dragon 2020 [Limited Edition] (2011). These releases solidified the developer's legacy of producing stylized, portable Japanese role-playing games before the company filed for bankruptcy in 2015.
