Ready at Dawn Studios LLC is an American video game developer founded in 2003. The studio is highly recognized for developing the PlayStation Portable spin-off Daxter (2006), as well as critically acclaimed portable titles in the God of War series. They later created the PlayStation 4 exclusive intellectual property The Order: 1886.
The studio established its technical reputation by maximizing the hardware capabilities of the PlayStation Portable. Their debut title,
Daxter, spun off from Naughty Dog's platforming universe, achieved massive commercial success and saw numerous physical iterations, including
Daxter [Demo Disc],
Daxter [Greatest Hits], and various
Not For Resale promotional bundles. This success allowed the developer to collaborate closely with Santa Monica Studio on the
God of War franchise. They delivered
God of War: Chains of Olympus and
God of War: Ghost of Sparta, both of which were praised for bringing the scale and fluid combat of the home console entries to a handheld format.
Building on the cinematic storytelling and graphical prowess developed during their handheld era, the studio transitioned to home consoles to create
The Order: 1886. This alternate-history third-person shooter showcased advanced visual technology and physics engines, serving as a showcase for the early PlayStation 4 library. Through these key franchises, the developer cemented a legacy of pushing graphical boundaries across multiple console generations.
