Zed Two Limited developed the 3D puzzle game Wetrix, which was released on platforms like the Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, and PC. They followed this success with its sequel, Aqua Aqua (also known as Aqua Aqua: Wetrix 2) for the PlayStation 2. Additionally, the studio developed children's titles based on the Dragon Tales franchise, including Dragon Tales: Dragon Wings and Dragon Tales: Dragon Seek.
Founded in 1997 by industry veterans Ste and John Pickford, the studio established its reputation by leveraging innovative physics engines. The concept for
Wetrix (1997) originated as a technical demonstration designed to showcase real-time fluid dynamics. This demo evolved into a unique puzzle franchise where players manipulated 3D terrain to contain falling water.
The studio refined this formula with
Wetrix+ (2000), which introduced enhanced graphics and multiplayer modes, and further expanded the universe with
Aqua Aqua (2000), also released as
Aqua Aqua: Wetrix 2 (2000) and
Aqua Aqua (2001). These sequels added character-driven story elements, cute mascots, and boss battles to the core water-damming gameplay.
Simultaneously, the developer branched into licensed children's software for handheld consoles. Collaborating with publisher Ubisoft, they produced
Dragon Tales Dragon Wings (2000) and
Dragon Tales Dragon Seek (2001) for the Game Boy Color. These platforming and adventure titles translated the educational themes of the animated television series into accessible side-scrolling gameplay. Following the completion of these projects, the studio was acquired by Warthog plc in 2002, concluding its run as an independent developer.
