About

The Go, Diego, Go! video game series includes titles such as Go, Diego, Go!: Safari Rescue (2007) and Go, Diego, Go!: Great Dinosaur Rescue (2008). Released on platforms like the Nintendo DS, Wii, and PlayStation 2, these games feature educational rescue missions. Players control the young animal rescuer Diego, using various gadgets to save wild animals and dinosaurs.
Developed as interactive extensions of the Nickelodeon animated television series, these titles were published by 2K Play under their Nick Jr. library. Go, Diego, Go!: Safari Rescue tasks players with undoing a mischievous magician's spell that has transformed Serengeti animals, requiring the collection of magical puzzle pieces. The subsequent release, Go, Diego, Go!: Great Dinosaur Rescue, shifts the setting to the prehistoric era, where players travel through time to reunite a lost dinosaur with its family.
To engage preschool-aged audiences, developers High Voltage Software and Black Lantern Studios designed the gameplay around platform-specific physical interactions. On the Wii, players mimic rescue actions by shaking the Wii Remote to climb vines or stomp like a dinosaur. The Nintendo DS versions utilize the stylus for tracing paths and the built-in microphone to call out to animals. Both games feature the voice talent from the television show, including Jake T. Austin as Diego, to maintain brand authenticity. This duology established a template for accessible, motion-controlled early-childhood gaming during the seventh generation of video game consoles.
