In Disney's *Brother Bear* adventure, Kenai is transformed into a bear by the Great Spirits after losing his temper in a dispute with his brother Denahi. To regain his human form, Kenai must journey to the mythical land where the northern lights meet the earth, accompanied by a young bear cub named Koda. The game focuses on Kenai's perilous quest for balance and self-discovery while evading Denahi's hunt.
Story
The Origin of Power
Long ago, when the Earth was young and ice still covered the land, the Great Spirits of the Northern Lights wielded the power of transformation. During this time, man and animal lived on equal terms, competing for land and food.
Kenai's Transformation
In *Disney's Brother Bear*, Kenai is a headstrong teenager who does not understand the need for balance in nature. Driven by emotion after losing his oldest brother to a bear, he seeks revenge. The Great Spirits intervene and help Kenai learn about balance by miraculously transforming him into a bear.
The Hunt Begins
Now that Kenai is a bear, he is hunted by his remaining brother, Denahi. Before Denahi can track Kenai down, he must make it to the mystical place where the lights meet the Earth, home of the Great Spirits, so that he can regain his human form.
Journey with Koda
Not knowing the way himself, Kenai enlists the help of a pesky cub named Koda. Over the course of his perilous journey with Koda, Kenai is forced to question everything he knows about the meaning of brotherhood. Ultimately, he realizes that his physical transformation from a man to a bear is insignificant compared to the change that has occurred within himself.
How to Play
Getting Started

Ensure the POWER switch is OFF.
•
Insert the Disney's Brother Bear Game Pak into the Game Boy® Advance slot as described in your Nintendo Game Boy® Advance instruction manual.
•
Turn the POWER switch ON.
*Note: The Disney's Brother Bear Game Pak is for the Game Boy® Advance system only.*
Title Screen
After the legal information, you will see screens for Disney Interactive, Vicarious Visions®, Inc. and Disney's Brother Bear. Press Start to proceed to the Main Menu.
Main Menu
Use the Control Pad Up and Down to highlight one of the 4 New Game slots or Erase to delete an existing game. Press the A Button to select.
Level Selection
After selecting a previously saved or new game slot, you will be taken to the Level Map screen. Your path through the game is shown by a map, leading you from the Snow Forest to the Ice Caves, through the Valley of Fire, and eventually to the Mountain.
Use the Control Pad to move Kenai and Koda from one map reference point to another. Before you can make your way down the next path, you must first collect all of the level's Totems. You may go back and replay previous levels at any time.
Bonus Games
By unlocking secret paths, you will find bonus game levels. You need to earn a Gold Berry before you can play a bonus game. If you successfully complete a bonus level, you will earn 3 lives.
Sliding Puzzle
Try to unscramble the picture before the time runs out.
Matching Game
You will see a set of pictures featuring characters from the Disney's Brother Bear movie. These pictures will become hidden and get shuffled around. Use the Control Pad and the A Button to select 2 hidden pictures at a time, with the goal of pairing each picture with its match.
Salmon Run
Help Kenai collect 10 fish before the time runs out.

Tips & Maps
Kenai Rock Push
Walk up to a rock and Kenai will push it down the path with his head.
Belly Smash
Jump (A Button) and then press Action (B Button) while in the air.
Ledge Grab
Press +Control Pad Up when jumping at a ledge.
Climb
Press A Button and the +Control Pad Up while next to a tree.
Wall Back Flip
Jump (A Button) towards a wall, and then Jump (A Button) again while in the air.
Tree Balancing
Jump (A Button) onto the fallen tree, tap the +Control Pad Up & Down to keep the balance line near the center while pressing +Control Pad Left or Right.
Koda Reach
While holding onto the ledge, press +Control Pad Down and Koda will reach down and collect items that are normally out of reach.
Double Jump
Jump (A Button), and then Jump (A Button) again while in the air for extra jump height or distance.
Mammoth Ride
Kenai and Koda can hitch a ride on a Mammoth to save time; use the +Control Pad Left or Right to guide the Mammoth while watching out for boulders and falling trees.
Items & Weapons
Berries
Berries are found along trails, in trees, and in tree stumps, with 50 collected berries granting an extra life.
Totems
Wolf, Bear, and Eagle totems in Green, Red, and Gold colors are collected to unlock paths through the forest, with Green totems unlocking the main path, Red totems unlocking a secret path, and Gold totems awarding 3 Gold Berries for bonus games.
1-Up
This item awards the player an extra life.
Paw Marker
Found on specific tree stumps, activating a Paw Marker allows the player to restart from that point if they lose a life before the end of the level.
