The NBA Jam Tournament Edition brings fast-paced arcade basketball to the Sega Mega Drive, pitting players from all 30 NBA teams against each other in two-on-two showdowns. With minimal rules and no fouls, this game is all about high-scoring jams and exciting gameplay.
A unique multiplayer mode allows up to four human players to compete, with each player controlling a single teammate and an AI-controlled opponent. This setup enables either teams of two or individual matchups against a CPU partner. The Tournament Edition expands the roster for both teams to three players, adding the option for substitutions between quarters.
A new layer of strategy is introduced with injuries, which can occur if a player is shoved and lower their stats. This encourages careful substitution and recovery to keep your team on the court. The Tournament Edition also includes several special options: "Hot Spots" that grant bonus points for making shots in designated areas, powerup icons that provide temporary boosts when collected, and modes like "Juice Mode," which increases game speed, and "Tournament Mode," which challenges players to defeat all teams to unlock new players.
