Comando Noturno! (Night Commando!) is a combat flight simulator. The player controls a fighter plane on a night mission, and their task is to take off, destroy the target, avoid enemy attack, and return to base.
The game is played from the plane's cockpit in a first-person perspective. The player uses both the joystick and keyboard to control the plane. The joystick controls direction (up, down, left, or right) and weapon selection, while the keyboard is used for various instruments such as speed, height, fuel, distance to target and base, ammunition amount, and friend/foe status.
A main display shows essential information, including plane speed, height, fuel, distance to target and base, ammunition amount, and selected weapon. Four lights above the display indicate which weapon is selected: cannon, bomb, ground missile, and air missile. To the right of the display, a direction indicator and level sensor can be seen.
After taking off, the player must lower the landing gear before exceeding Mach 0.5 speed, or risk destroying the plane. Once airborne, locating a target requires identifying if it's friendly or enemy aircraft. Shooting at friendly planes or vehicles will end the mission.
Destroying targets and landing safely are crucial to completing the mission. The player must land the plane at low speed, with the gear down and aligned to the ground. Hitting the runway's end as slow as possible is necessary; failing to do so will result in a crash.
The game ends when the plane is destroyed due to hitting an enemy, ground, or running out of fuel.
