A young orphan girl, wracked with hunger, dies in the street alone and ignored by all of the passers by. After a strange man pokes her with her cane, her body is transformed into an egg, out of which hatches the black bird. The girl's spirit seeks revenge on those who neglected her.
Black Bird is a side-scrolling 2D shooter where you can move freely left and right through levels that repeat infinitely. You'll need to target enemy fortifications to progress, but instead of defending them, your aim is to destroy them all. Once the level's fortifications are gone, a boss fight ensues on a moving stage, where you must defeat the opponent.
The game features a dark story told through its unique sprite art and music style. Each level includes a distinctive vocal song that sets the pace for the gameplay.
