The city of Chroma is under attack by the evil I.N.K.T. Corporation, who are draining its colour with machines. Only one hero can save the day: de Blob. With his special powers, he must roll into colourful machines to gain new colours and restore the happiness of the once-peaceful Raydiants.
As de Blob navigates through Chroma, he needs to touch various objects like buildings, walls, billboards, trees, and even Graydiants to bring them back to their former colour. He can mix different colours by rolling into two primary colours at once, creating new shades. However, some objects are locked or require more effort to colour – in those cases, de Blob has to jump inside the object and use a special shake mechanic on his controller.
Completing objectives and earning points is key to unlocking gates that seal off areas. Points can be collected by painting buildings, freeing Graydiants, completing challenges, and other activities. As players progress, they'll unlock new paths and exit routes, allowing them to leave the level whenever they choose.
However, de Blob's journey isn't without obstacles. Water can wash away his colours, and prolonged exposure will drain his paint supply. Hazards like ink pools and I.N.K.T. agents also await him – if he gets stained black, any coloured objects he touches will lose their colour, and his paint dwindles faster.
De Blob was originally released for the Nintendo Switch on June 29th, 2018.
