The former Roman emperor, Hadrianus , has gone missing and the empire wants to confirm whether he is dead or alive. To accomplish this, the empire hires a mercenary to go looking. The player takes on the role of this mercenary, choosing from four different classes such as highlander, gladiator, or dark seeker, each with their own unique strength, vitality, agility, and will statistics.
The gameplay is action-packed, with players exploring several different difficulty-rated labyrinths, fighting monsters with equipped weapons. Status effects like paralysis, poison, and fear can be both given and received during battles. Players also have access to supplies on their belts, such as heal nuts, sacred water, and bombs. Defeating monsters earns experience points to level up the character, granting ability points to upgrade various abilities.
Other than the story mode, there's also a dungeon mode and a multiplayer mode available for players to enjoy.
