Defcon 5 , released in 1995, presents a unique blend of action and adventure gameplay. In this first-person shooter, you play as an engineer sent to update a defence base with automated software. However, upon arrival, the base is invaded by unknown assailants from both air and ground.
The game's main objective is to rely on your wits and the defence software to fend off the invaders. You must shuttle between shooting down waves of fighters in manned turrets outside, while scouring the maze-like living areas for card keys during downtime. The base's "Virtual Operating System" plays a crucial role in controlling major functions, allowing you to repair damage, monitor intruders, and place robot sentries.
As you progress through the game, defending the base becomes more automated and efficient, giving you more time to search for keys. Your ultimate goal is to find the clearance to self-destruct the base, defend your escape shuttle, and make it out alive.
