Fade to Black is the sequel to Flashback: the Quest for Identity . The player takes control of Conrad, the hero from Flashback , who has been imprisoned by his old enemy, the Morphs. Gaining the trust and assistance of the mysterious Ancients, Conrad must fight off the Morph invasion, not knowing whom he can trust.
The game features fully polygonal graphics for both character models and environment. The camera angles change depending on the player's location, similar to the Alone in the Dark series. Conrad can use various weapons to eliminate enemies and will also have to solve some puzzles. However, his movements are limited; he cannot climb or jump, and avoiding enemy fire is limited to ducking.
Fade to Black was released on PlayStation in July 1996. The game falls under the Action & Adventure genre. Conrad must fight off the Morph invasion while navigating the environment and solving puzzles.

Game Guide
Extracted from the original game manual
This is a sci-fi action game where players control Conrad, a saboteur for a rebel organization. He undertakes covert missions to dismantle an alien empire that has enslaved humanity, uncovering a deeper conspiracy along the way.
Story
Introduction
2190 AD. The solar system is in the clutches of an alien race, a race beyond control. Morphs—all surface, no substance—are able to replicate any shape at will.
Controlled by auxiliary-master brains, this breed of impostors has systematically reduced mankind to a whimpering quagmire of indecision and paralysis.
Enter Conrad. Plucked from a cryogenic slumber, the hero is installed in a moon-based penitentiary where he befriends dissident leader John O'Connor, also a prisoner. The pair escape to an orbital base occupied by Mandragore, the rebel organization with whom O'Connor is affiliated.
Thus Conrad is recruited; his mission, as saboteur, to run covert missions for Mandragore in an attempt to destroy the Morph empire. Conrad knocks down the walls one by one, until he discovers the true meaning of a twisted mind.
