Extinction is a class-based multiplayer game that features man versus dinosaur battles with players commanding both sides. Originally planned as a free update to its predecessor, it now serves as the sequel to the 2012 game Primal Carnage and was created by a new development team.
This game builds upon the same foundations as the first one, but with some key differences. The dinosaur classes are the same, but with different skins for each species. Human classes also remain unchanged, with five options: Trapper, Commando, Scientist, Pathfinder, and Pyromaniac. However, human classes have gained new weapons and a loadout system, allowing players to customize their loadouts. The game includes all maps from the first game, plus three new ones: Transfer, Verdant, and Contingency. All game modes are also available, including the popular 'Get to the Chopper' mode that was later added as an update to Primal Carnage .
Extinction is more streamlined than its predecessor, thanks in part to its support on Steam. Players can trade human and dinosaur skins, weapon skins, hats, and accessories for both characters.
