Side Pocket is an action-packed game where you'll be sinking balls in each level, trying to reach predetermined scores to progress. However, be warned: you only have a limited number of "lives" and any mistakes can be fatal. After completing each stage, a bonus stage will appear, giving you the chance to earn extra balls and improve your aim.
The game has several versions with different gameplay modes and features:
The original Side Pocket Arcade version is a pool game where you compete against the timer, trying to get all balls in pockets and earn points.
The NES release introduces two-player modes with variants such as 2P Pocket Game and 2P 9-Ball Game. In single-player mode, you need to clear four levels with alternating ball layouts, starting from City class and progressing through the World Class.
On the Game Boy , the game features one or two players in two modes: 9-ball and Pocket. The Pocket mode is similar to the NES version.
The Genesis and SNES versions boast improved graphics and sound, with a reworked Pocket game mode that includes more stages and trick shot layouts. You'll travel through different cities in the U.S.A., claiming championship titles along the way.
On Game Gear , the game is a toned-down version of the Genesis version.
The Wonder Swan version features one and two-player play on a single device, with a single-player mode where you choose an avatar from a menu and compete against opponents.
