The player controls Zeke or Julia , a protagonist fighting vampires, mummies, zombies, and other creatures in the game Zombies Ate My Neighbors . The goal is to destroy these monsters, survive 50+ levels, and rescue neighbors that have survived. Each level has a defined number of neighbors who can be saved; when all are rescued, an "Exit" door opens, and the player advances to the next level.
The levels range from mall and grocery store to beaches and football fields. Using different weapons such as bazooka or water gun, Zeke and Julia must kill regular enemies and bosses at the end of each level. The game's setting contains a mix of horror and humor. A two-player cooperative mode is available for players to team up.
