Broken Sword is a remake of the original Circle of Blood game. The game features the same basic story, but has additional locales to visit, more puzzles and tells parts of the story from Nico's perspective. Some of the puzzles also make use of the unique abilities of Wii consoles and the animated facial expressions have been redrawn by Dave Gibbons.
The gameplay in Broken Sword is action-packed and adventurous, with a mix of puzzles, exploration, and combat. Players control George Stobbart as he navigates through various locations, including Paris and New York City, to uncover a mysterious plot.
