Octomania is a puzzle action game that follows the story of Kari, an apprentice magician who accidentally summons a swarm of octopi in the peaceful kingdom of Lonropia. An angel appears and tasks Kari with finding Prince Exaltus to figure out how to rid the kingdom of the cephalopods.
Octomania is played on the Wii console, where players must remove octopi from their field faster than their opponent. The goal is achieved by placing multiple same-colored octopi into nets, which will turn into bubbles and disappear, causing adjacent octopi of the same color to also become bubbles. Large chains can be formed, but these will drop urchins on the opponent's side, which must be cleared by removing adjacent octopi.
The game features both arcade and original modes, each with slightly different rules. Players can compete in one-player story mode, two-player battles, or play endless modes. Network battle play is also available via Nintendo WFC.
