The story of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands begins with the Prince acquiring a genie named Zhara in a marketplace. His wishes are predictable, but Zhara guides him to the lost kingdom of Izdihar, where he must prove his worth to earn his kingdom. However, upon arrival, the Prince discovers that Izdihar is overrun by mutant vegetation and its inhabitants have been corrupted by a master-plant known as the Haoma.
In Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands , the player controls the Prince as he navigates through levels using various movements such as running on walls, climbing, fighting enemies, and using magical powers. The genie Zhara assists him, offering advice, riddles, and history lessons about the kingdom of Izdihar. The genie can also be controlled by a second player to freeze enemies in combat, slow down traps, and perform magic to aid the Prince.
The game utilizes the Wii motion controls extensively, with movement achieved through the Nunchuk's thumbstick and options such as rolling, jumping, and using magical powers located on the Wiimote. The pointing ability of the Wiimote is used to solve puzzles, activate gameplay elements, and attack enemies. In combat, simple arm gestures are used to make the Prince perform various attacks.
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands was released for the Wii on 11 May 2010.
