The game's career mode allows players to gain experience points after every event, which can be invested in five stats such as speed or jumping technique. A new character editor enables players to customize their athlete's appearance, including facial features. The arcade mode offers temporary boosts to improve performance for a short time. In addition, the game includes co-op relay races where players take turns using input devices.
