Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance is an action game set in the Roman empire. You play as Invictus Thrax, a Roman slave who becomes champion of all gladiators. Favored by the emperor, Invictus was to be granted his freedom. However, the emperor was mysteriously killed and replaced by Arruntius, a crazy man who wants to destroy Rome and build a new city called Arruntium. As the game begins, an epic event takes place with Invictus as the gladiator. He fights bravely, but is killed by an unknown creature. In the afterlife, Invictus meets the sons of Jupiter, who tell him that Arruntius' power comes from the gods of terror and charge him with eliminating Arruntius to restore Rome.

Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance is a 3D action game with hand-to-hand combat, combos, and magic. You can also navigate around the game world by gliding down ropes or jumping over traps. Defeating challenges unlocks magical powers granted by the gods, such as Pluto's power to raise spirits from the dead to help you in battle. A unique feature of the game is the execution maneuver, which allows you to execute an enemy when they're about to die, resulting in a cinematic and brutal death.

The game's graphics aim to recreate the atmosphere of gladiator films like Spartacus . The game features a wide range of characters, including opposing gladiators and mythical enemies. The audio includes a mix of soft and hectic tunes, as well as voice-over acting.
