Velvet Assassin is a 3rd-person stealth shooter set during World War II, inspired by the real-life secret agent Violette Szabo. The player assumes the role of fictional secret agent Violette Summers , playing through her memories while she lies in a coma at a military hospital.
Gameplay focuses on stealth and dynamic lighting effects. At several points, the player must exploit shadows to remain unseen, surrounded by a purple aura that fades when moving into light or being spotted by enemies. A special "Morphine Mode" allows for faster movement and targets, inspired by real-life morphine use during wartime. Various types of stealth kills can be performed using different weapons.
Collectibles hidden throughout the levels grant experience points upon discovery , which can boost player abilities. The game's atmosphere and art style are moody and contrasting to the fantasy world of memories.
Suitable for all ages, Velvet Assassin includes bonus content such as game trailers, wallpapers, and comics in some releases.
