Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado is an action-packed adventure game that follows the story of two con artists, Teco and Muto, who team up with a Spanish conquistador, betrays his lord, and joins forces to find the legendary city of gold, El Dorado. This adventure game, based on the animated movie, follows two con men, Tulio and Miguel, as they escape authorities and journey to the legendary city of El Dorado. Players guide them through puzzles and dangers, helping them maintain a ruse as gods while seeking riches and glory.
Story
Introduction
You have just obtained a map that shows the road to the legendary city of gold: El Dorado. Now you only need to find your way out of town and to where the map's first marker lies.
Guide the heroes Tulio and Miguel through numerous adventures as they search for gold and glory on the road to El Dorado!
Objectives
Gold And Glory: The Road to El Dorado™ is a story set in a time of high adventure where rich rewards await the brave, the determined and the plain lucky.
Tulio and Miguel need to escape from the town before they are caught by the authorities who seem to think that they are in need of a spell in jail. Help them avoid being captured and start them on their journey of adventure as they overcome obstacles, face danger and show courage in the presence of great peril.
Tulio and Miguel need your help in guiding them along their path. They need you to solve the puzzles and avoid the traps along the way. The city of gold awaits brave adventurers.
Story Background
DreamWorks' animated movie "Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado™" is a comedic tale of adventure and discovery.
TULIO and MIGUEL, a pair of two-bit Spanish con men, flee an angry crowd -- right into the brig of a ship bound for the New World. An ill-advised escape attempt is complicated by ALTIVO, a haughty war horse, and the three wind up starving and stranded on alien shores.
They accidentally stumble upon El Dorado, the legendary City of Gold, where they find themselves in the middle of what may just be the scam of a lifetime.
In El Dorado, they are proclaimed to be gods by TZEKEL-KAN, the High Priest, who uses their arrival to take control of the city from CHIEF TANNABOK. Tulio and Miguel sustain the ruse with the aid of the beautiful native CHEL, who matches them con-for-con.
But even as they fulfill their dreams of gold and glory, their friendship -- and the very fate of El Dorado -- hang in the balance.
How to Play
Setting Up
1. Set up your Console according to the instructions in its Instruction Manual. Make sure the power is off before inserting a compact disc.
2. Insert the Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado™ disc and close the disc cover.
3. Insert a game controller and turn on the PlayStation® game console.
4. Follow the On-Screen Instructions to Start the game.

Conversations
During Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado™ there will be plenty of occasions when The Heroes will need to extract information from other characters. In these instances, walk The Heroes over to the character and press the X button.
When it's The Heroes' turn to speak, a selection of discussion topics may appear at the bottom of the screen. Some of these might be specific people or they might be regarding objects or other events going on in the game.
When selecting the discussion topic, it's worth remembering that some of the characters The Heroes will be talking to will be strangers. It's often much better to ease into the conversation gently before asking them directly about your goals.
Using the Inventory
As with conversations, The Heroes' inventory is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Think laterally as some objects might seem useless, but are far from it.
Your hero has deep pockets that can carry a wide range of inventory items. These items can be viewed by pressing A button and selected by pressing X button.
Switching Characters
At certain times in the game you will be able to change which Hero you control. This can be done by talking to the other Hero and selecting his face from the menu, or by accessing your inventory and selecting his face.
In Game Menus
Main Menu
Press the X button to select:
•
NEW GAME: Begin your adventure from the beginning.
•
LOAD GAME: Load a previously saved game from a MEMORY CARD (see the MEMORY CARD section later in this manual for more information).
•
ARTWORK: Here you may view design sketches and movie sequences for the game.
•
OPTIONS: Reconfigure your game using a selection of options.
Artwork Menu
Select VIEW MOVIES to view any movie sequence you have already seen in-game. This serves as a handy reminder for the story so far.
Highlight the 'thumbnail' image, then press the X button to view the movie; press the X button again to quit and return to the movie menu. As you progress further through the game, you can use the L1 and R1 buttons to scroll through each page of thumbnail images and select the movie you wish to view.
Options Menu - Game Options
Press the X button to select one of the following three submenus, or press the A button to cancel the selection and return to the Main Menu.

AUDIO/VISUAL
•
EFFECTS VOLUME: Press the Directional buttons to move the slider and increase/decrease the volume of the sound effects in game.
•
MUSIC VOLUME: Press Directional buttons to move the slider and increase/decrease the volume of the in-game music.
•
SPEECH VOLUME: Press Directional buttons to move the slider and increase/decrease the volume of the in-game speech.
•
SCREEN OFFSET: Press the X button to select SCREEN OFFSET, then use the Directional buttons or left analog stick to adjust the screen display. Press the X button again to confirm the selection, or press the A button to cancel and return to the GAME OPTIONS menu.
Pause Menu
Press START during gameplay to pause the game and open up the Pause Menu. Press the Directional buttons Up/Down to highlight an option on the Menu.
•
CONTINUE: Unpause the current game and continue with the mission.
•
LOAD: Load in a previously saved game.
•
SAVE: At certain points in the game, you will be able to use this option to save your current position. See the section on 'Saving your game' later on in this manual for more information.
•
OPTIONS: Customize your game with this set of options. See the OPTIONS section earlier on in this manual for more information.
•
RESTART MISSION: Quit your current game and return to the beginning of the current Mission.
•
QUIT: Quit the current game and return to the Title Screen/Main Menu.
Tips & Maps
Memory Cards
To save game settings and progress, insert a memory card into memory card slot 1 before gameplay begins. You can load your saved game from the same card or any memory card containing a previously saved Gold and Glory: The Road to El Dorado™ game.
Controls
If you are using a DUALSHOCK™ analog controller, this game can be played using the Directional buttons or the left analog stick. The left analog stick is functional only when its LED is on.
MEMORY CARDS -- SAVING AND LOADING
Do not insert or remove peripherals or MEMORY CARDs once the power is turned on. Make sure there are enough free blocks on your MEMORY CARD before commencing play. MEMORY CARDs are supported in MEMORY CARD slot I only.
SAVING YOUR GAME
Select SAVE from the Pause Menu, then choose a save block to either save a NEW SAVE GAME or overwrite an existing save. Press the button to save.
LOAD A SAVED GAME
Select LOAD from the Pause or Main Menu. Highlight the save you wish to load and press the X button.

Enemies & Characters
Tulio
A schemer whose overactive imagination overflows with impossible "fame and fortune" scams of dubious plausibility. A cynical optimist, the perfect partner to Miguel.
Miguel
A chivalrous adventurer. He cares for glory more than gold and for Tulio more than glory.
Altivo
A charming yet reluctant travel companion, he grows to care for Miguel and Tulio and becomes more of a partner than a pet.
