League of Pain , released on the PlayStation console in February 1997, is a futuristicsports game that takes place in a hall similar to a basketball field but with a basket located in the middle. The objective is to throw charged energy balls into the basket, which are powered by energy fields placed within the opponent's half. Three areas of varying point values are present on the court, and the team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Each team consists of six players, each with unique attributes such as speed, power, accuracy, and condition scores. Power-ups occasionally appear, boosting a player's abilities. The rules allow for aggressive play towards opponents' players. During gameplay, 23 camera angles are available, including top-down and directly behind the used player.
League of Pain offers three playing modes: Exhibition matches, where two teams compete in a single game; Playoff tournaments, allowing multiple teams to participate; and League mode, where only one team can be controlled.
