The Origami Killer has struck again, leaving an origami figure at the center of his crimes. With four days to go before he strikes again, the lives of Ethan Mars, a former architect struggling with depression and guilt over his son's death; Norman Jayden, an FBI profiler using an experimental device called ARI; Madison Paige, a journalist investigating the Origami case despite her own nightmares; and Scott Shelby, a private eye hired by families of victims, become entangled as they search to stop him.
Heavy Rain is an interactive drama that combines action and adventure elements. The story revolves around the lives of these four characters as they try to stop the Origami Killer from taking another victim. Your choices have a significant impact on the story, leading to one of many possible endings. When a main character dies, there will be a different ending.
The game uses Quick Time Events (QTEs) to move forward and control your characters' actions. You'll hold the R2 button and use the left analog stick to navigate. Holding the L2 button brings up your character's thoughts, and pressing the corresponding button will make them say or do something.
A budget re-release of Heavy Rain includes a game patch that supports the PlayStation Move controller. This patch can also be downloaded as a standalone file for free. The game is available in various budget editions, including Platinum in Europe, Greatest Hits in America, and PlayStation 3 the Best in Asia.
