The graphics have been improved with updated character models and environment art, along with new visual effects for fire and explosions. The game engine has been upgraded to Unity 5, providing more realistic lighting conditions through its physically-based rendering system. New voice-overs have also been added, expanding on the game's narrative. Additionally, a precision strike system allows players to target individual body parts with negative status effects.
A new perk system has been introduced, where a perk point is provided for every four character levels. The available perks depend on the character's skills and can be chosen during character generation. Rebalanced gameplay mechanics have also been implemented, including updated weapon statistics, container locations, content scenes, merchant inventories, loot drops, and more.
Changes during combat include enemy placement, numbers, and cover positions, which have been implemented to improve the game's strategy. New weapons have been added, found in hidden containers or carried by NPCs, and the armour system has been updated to make heavy armour conductive, affecting the use of energy weapons.
The console release also includes controller support for PC versions, allowing players to enjoy a more immersive gaming experience.
