College Football's National Championship II is a follow-up to College Football's National Championship , using the same game engine as before. The game is essentially a clone of NFL Football starring Joe Montana.
The game features standard modes such as Exhibition , Tournament , and Season , with updated rosters for the top schools of 1994, including 32 teams with five new additions. However, five teams from the previous game were removed to make room for these new additions: San Diego State, Pitt, LSU, Arkansas, and Houston. The game also tracks 19 different stats, along with authentic offensive and defensive plays attributed to each team.
Players can compete using four different players through multi-tap, and the game features a battery backup to keep track of stats and save games. New sound effects have been added to this version, replacing the announcer from the previous game.
