The gameplay involves strategic components that differ from the computer/arcade version. Before starting the tour, you choose between different sponsors, which gives you money to reinvest into a navigator and spare parts. The navigator provides driving directions, but jungle or darkness may obscure the path. Spare parts are crucial because each part of the car has limited durability and may need repair during a race stage. If parts aren't available right away, you'll incur a major time penalty. Repairs can also be done between stages, and there's a weight limit: more spare parts mean lower maximum speed.
