Winning Post 2: Program '96 is an updated version of Winning Post 2, featuring updated race information for the 1996 series. New in this version is the Paper Owner Game mode, a "fantasy sports" style game mode for multiple players where each player selects their choice of horses for a given year, and winners are determined by the performance of each player's selected horses.
The gameplay revolves around racing and horse management. Players can create and train their own horses, as well as participate in various racing events to compete against other players or AI opponents.
