Lunar Legend is a version of Lunar: The Silver Star, which contains some of the changes introduced in its remake, Lunar: Silver Star Story.
The game's graphical style and story-related changes are closer to the remade version than to the original. However, this version does not contain the anime movie cutscenes from the remake, replacing them with still shots. Also, random battles from the original version return, as opposed to visible enemies of the remake. Changes unique to this version include the introduction of power special moves, which can be unleashed during battles once a special bar is replenished, and elimination of an explorable world map in favor of linear "dot-to-dot" movement between locations.
This version also has a different English translation.
Lunar Legend (GameBoy Advance, 2002-12-08) is a role-playing game with RPG elements. The gameplay involves battles and exploration of locations. Players must use power special moves during battles to gain an advantage. The linear movement system can be frustrating for some players.

Lunar's World
The Origin of the Star
From the blue star shining in the sky, a single ray of light danced down, bringing a warm light reminiscent of spring sunlight. Green life was born on the star which had been covered by a desolate land of death. It was the undoubted sprouting of life, where the cold, dry wind became a gentle, cool breeze, and moisture was brought to the dry land.
The Goddess Althena, who gave the breath of life to this star "Luna," guided the people with her gentle spirit. Receiving Althena's blessing, the people obtained a peaceful life through magic. Before long, they came to revere Althena as a god and offer her prayers.
The history of the star is filled with those who left their names in the hearts of the people, as well as those who lived guarding small happiness without their names being known to anyone. Though the paths they traveled were different, people make the best of the days they are given. Every day a new story is etched into the history of this star.
The story told this night is just one of them. In the far, distant past, now only the Tower of the Goddess alone knows the truth of it.
The Magical World of Luna
In the mysterious world of "LUNAR," where a blue star shines in the sky, magic is a part of daily life. Blessed by the Goddess Althena, most people, regardless of their ability, can use magic. People create small fires and storms and use them in their everyday lives.
The source of this power is the magical power of the Goddess Althena, which fills the earth and the atmosphere just like air and water. Those who reign at the pinnacle of this magical world are the strongest magical creatures, the race of Dragons.
Dragons protect the Goddess Althena. They are the kings of the elementals of earth, water, fire, and wind, and are also the embodiments of those magical powers. It is said that the one who becomes a Dragon Master, commanding those dragons to protect this world, must be one who has passed through the dragon's trials.
Story: The Village of Bulg
The story begins in the village of Bulg, home to the northern settlers. On the top of a small hill at the edge of the village stands a mound commemorating the legendary Dragon Master Dain, who died 15 years ago.
At the mound stands a boy named Arus. Born and raised in Bulg, Dain's hometown, he has admired Dain since he was little and dreamed of setting off on an adventure of his own.
While Arus looks out over the world, a single mage comes from the magical city of Vain. The boy calls himself Nash. Nash tells the villagers that he wants to be guided to the White Dragon Temple, said to be in the Forest of Goats.
The Journey Begins
Nash came to the village of Bulg in order to receive the trial of a Dragon Master. His mention of the "White Dragon Shrine" and "Dragon Master" caught the heart of Alex, who admired adventure. Unable to suppress his innate curiosity, Alex decides to join him.
Thus, a group sets off on a journey to a place said to be the home of legendary dragons, where Dain once received the dragon's trial. The group includes:

Luna, Alex's childhood friend.

Rams, the village chief's son.

Nar, Alex's bickering friend and mysterious creature.

Alex intends to become a Dragon Master someday by receiving the White Dragon's trial. He hopes that Daito, the dragon from Dain's adventure story, might appear to them.
How to Play
How to Connect the Communication Cable
This explains how to connect two Game Boy Advances using a communication cable.
What You Need

Connection Method
1. Make sure the power switches on both units are OFF, then insert a cartridge into each unit.
2. Connect the communication cable to the expansion ports on each unit.
3. Turn the power switches on both units to ON.
4. Please refer to page 20 for subsequent operating instructions.
※ Player 1 is the person with the smaller plug connected to their unit.
Precautions Regarding Communication Play
Communication may fail or the system may malfunction in the following cases:
•
When using a communication cable other than the Game Boy Advance dedicated communication cable.
•
When the communication cable is not inserted all the way in.
•
When plugging in or out the communication cable during communication.
•
When a communication cable is connected to a connection box.
•
When 3 or more units are connected.
Starting the Game
Set the Game Boy Advance software 'LUNAR LEGEND' cartridge correctly into the Game Boy Advance main unit and turn on the power switch. The title screen will be displayed, so please press the START button.
•
LOAD GAME: Select this when playing from already saved data.
•
OPTION: Accessible from the title menu.
•
CARD: View card collection status.
•
GALLERY: View collected graphics.
Card Collection System
CARD★★
The card screen displays the following information:
•
NO. 60 x5: Card number.
•
ENEMY: Name of the enemy associated with the card.
•
HP. 60: Health points of the enemy.

Display of Acquisition Status
When you collect approximately 20% of the cards, one star appears in the top left of the screen. After that, as the card acquisition percentage increases every 20%, one more star is added each time. When there are 5 stars, it means you have 100% acquired the cards.
Card Trade
Using the communication function, you can exchange the cards you have collected with other players.
How to Perform Data Exchange
When performing data exchange, the following preparation is required:
•
2 Game Boy Advance main units
•
1 Game Boy Advance exclusive cable
•
2 "LUNAR LEGEND" cartridges
When connecting using the communication cable, be sure to confirm that the power of each Game Boy Advance main unit is turned off, then connect, correctly insert the cartridge, and turn the power ON.
When performing card data exchange, you must first start the game single-player and collect at least one card in order to exchange. (This is because the exchange will not be established if neither party has a card.)
Communication Exchange Procedure
1. Select 'Exchange' on both Game Boy Advances, and use the left and right directions of the D-pad to select the card you want to exchange. Once the card is displayed, press the A button again.
2. You will be asked, 'Exchange this card?', so if you agree, align the command with YES and press the A button.
3. When the other side performs the same procedure, the cards selected by both will be exchanged. One card on the sender's side will disappear and be transferred to the receiver's side.
Gallery
Please select a number using the left and right directions of the D-pad. Graphics displayed in events during the game will be shown in screen size. Pressing the A button allows you to display them in full size.
Also, when graphics are displayed in screen size, pressing the L button / R button allows you to select the acquired graphics while displaying them one by one.
How to Save
When you want to save during the game, open the main menu, select the 'System' command, and then choose the 'Save/Load' icon. Three places to save data will be displayed.
Select the SAVE command, aim the cursor at the location you want to save to, and press the A button.

How to Load
When you want to restart from data you saved during the game, open the main menu, select the 'System' command, and then choose the 'Save/Load' icon. Select the LOAD command, aim the cursor at the location you want to load from, and press the A button.
Basic Game Flow
Talk to the Townsfolk!
When you arrive in a new town, talk to the townsfolk actively. You might sometimes meet a powerful ally. Also, many shops sell items necessary for your adventure, so don't forget to check them out.
Adventure Preparation
In town, you can buy and sell equipment and tools in addition to getting information.

Defeat Monsters to Gain Experience Points and Money!

Enemies & Characters
Ares
The protagonist of the main story. A 15-year-old boy born and raised in the northern frontier village of Burgs, a village of farmers. He admires the Dragon Master Dane, who is from Burgs village, and dreams of one day going on his own journey of adventure.
Luna
The heroine of the main story. She, who has no relatives, was taken in by Ares's parents and raised like a brother and sister with Ares. She tends to act like an older sister to Ares, who is the same age as her. She is a bright, responsible girl.
Nalu
Although he has a cat-like appearance, he is a mysterious creature with wings on his back. He hates being treated like a cat. He is always energetically flying around by Ares's side.
Nash
Self-proclaimed elite magician of the magic city Vane. He is arrogant and flashy, showing off all the time. However, deep down he is timid and is looking for friends.
Mia
The only daughter of Remilia Auza, the head of the Magic Guild. She possesses outstanding magical talent, but due to her reserved personality and the pressure of being the next head of the guild, she lacks confidence in her abilities.
Kirii
At the young age of 18, he is the leader of the bandits swarming around the Nanzas pass. Overconfident and fond of women, he is at a loss only around his childhood friend Jessica. However, his swordsmanship is reliable, and in a pinch, he becomes someone to greatly rely on.
Jessica
An acolyte at the temple enshrining the goddess Altena. She is the only daughter of one of the Four Heroes, Mel de Arc. Her natural state is that of a mischievous tomboy, but in front of her father, she shows an unexpected side.
Raiku
Self-proclaimed, a wandering drifter. He has a grandiose personality and appears and disappears like a ghost. His skill with the sword can be called godlike.
Remilia Auza
One of the four heroes. The head of the Magic Guild. She seems to be a somewhat difficult personality to deal with.
Loweiss
A suspicious diviner with an alluring charm from Black Rose Street. She seems to be an acquaintance of Nash.
Mer de Alcare
One of the Four Heroes. A dashing Beastman who rules the Free City of Melvia. A former pirate boss.
Galeon
One of the Four Heroes. Chancellor of the Magic Guild. A cool and calm perfectionist.
Facia
High Priestess of the Great Temple of Arteuna. Receives immense trust from the people of the temple.
Lamuso
The son of the mayor of Bultg Village, he is a friend of Ares and aims for the White Dragon Temple along with Ares and the others.
White Dragon Faydee
The white dragon that fought alongside Dragon Master Dyne 15 years ago.
Dyne
The Dragon Master of Bultg Village and a close friend of the Great Sage Galeon, he was one of the Four Heroes who fought under the Goddess Altena.

A type of card for which the method of obtaining them is unknown.
Enemy Cards
A type of card that can be obtained after a battle if the player is lucky.
Purchasing Cards
Players must save the game immediately after buying a card from a Trec House; returning to the title screen without saving will prevent the new card from appearing in the collection.
Tips & Maps
Arts Gauge (Gauge Techniques)
The Arts Gauge gradually increases as you perform attacks and allows you to use character-specific gauge techniques when fully charged. These techniques do not consume MP and are available to Ares, Luna, Nash, Mia, Jessica, and Keely, potentially enhanced by specific equippable items.
How to Operate During Battle
Characters may acquire one of eight status effects during battle, with only the highest priority abnormal status applying at any time. All abnormal statuses are cleared upon the end of a battle unless they result in a Game Over.
Q & A
HP and MP are restored by praying at 'Statues of the Goddess' found in towns and villages. Additionally, the map to Goat Forest is located in the large house north of the statue, and the White Dragon can be found in Goat Forest by searching all corners.
