Battle Stations is a naval combat game released for the Playstation in 1997. The game features two-player gameplay, with options for Arcade or War Games modes. In single-player mode, players can choose from either Arcade or Campaign mode. The Campaign mode includes 50 missions with objectives such as eliminating enemy supply convoys or carrying out a full-scale assault on an opponent's homeland.
Battle Stations allows players to select the admiral they want to fight in battle, each with their own set of skills and tactics. The Arcade mode lets players choose their ship and engage in 1-on-1 ship battles, earning points for sinking opponents' ships to climb naval ranks.
The War Games mode allows two players to compete against each other in 26 different locations, with options for war, capture the flag, or capture the harbor. Players can also choose between playing as a specific country or having a balanced or custom naval force, affecting the number of units of each ship type at the start of battle.
The game features eight types of ships, including aircraft carriers, destroyers, battleships, cruisers, patrol boats, mine layers, troop transports, and submarines. Each ship has different ratings in categories such as top speed, target range, hull strength, main guns, special weapon, and defensive weapon.
Gameplay involves moving ships strategically on an overhead map, with battles occurring when ships come close enough to each other. Players must maneuver a target reticule on their opponent's ship to attack while also trying to move out of the way of their opponents' attacks. Once a ship's health meter becomes empty, it is sunk.
