Kane & Lynch Dead Men is an action-packed game where two prisoners, Kane and Lynch, are on their way to execution when their transport is ambushed by a group of attackers. It's later revealed that these attackers were Kane's old associates, who demand the money from their last heist in exchange for sparing his family's lives.

Players take control of Kane as he tries to free his family and fight off the attackers. The camera system allows for a mix of behind-the-scenes views and over-the-shoulder shots while firing. As Kane, players must rely on cover mechanics to avoid taking too much damage, as excessive injuries can lead to a quick demise.

The gameplay revolves around shooting through hordes of police and special forces, with the ability to carry two types of weapons to aid in combat. Players can also issue commands to Lynch, such as focusing his fire or trading weapons, adding an extra layer of strategy to the game.

Kane & Lynch Dead Men features a cooperative multiplayer mode where a second player takes control of Lynch, allowing for local co-op gameplay. The online multiplayer introduces "Fragile Alliance," a game mode where players can rob a bank together, but with the twist that attacking teammates can lead to being marked as a traitor and respawning as enemy police.
