Battle Heat , released on PC FX in 1994, is set in a world where two clans, the noble Republic of Kriph and the evil Holy Dark Empire, are fighting for domination. The player can choose to play as any of four characters from either clan, but only fight against warriors of the opposing party.
The game's biggest innovation is its use of full-motion anime-style sequences for every move, with each button on the controller assigned to a specific action, including jumping. This results in many different movies and animations when a character performs an attack or reaction.
Players can choose from tournament mode, where they can compete as the Republic of Kriph, or opt for a free battle, allowing them to play as any character, regardless of clan affiliation.
