Balance of Power: The 1990 Edition is a strategy game where you aim to make your country the most prestigious in the world while avoiding nuclear war. In 1989, with the Communist Block crumbling, you must navigate the changing global landscape.
The game takes place in a world where smaller countries are asserting their regional power and freedom from the Cold War bipolar system. Your goal is to use your military, covert, and industrial forces to achieve this while avoiding conflict with other major powers like the USSR or the US.
Balance of Power: The 1990 Edition features new gameplay mechanics, including a multipolar level where you can engage in wars with smaller countries on their own. You can also send military aid to help them out, and receive advice from a "Crisis Advisory Board" composed of four people during international crises.
The game includes 18 new countries, bringing the total number to 80. With more countries at play, the gameplay is more complex, but still accessible. You must balance your relations with other nations, manage your resources, and make strategic decisions to achieve victory.
