What is Kickball
In an era with no bats or clubs where fielding ball could not be played, a sport called kickball was devised. Teams began fighting in this sport to obtain ownership of the playground.
Basic Rules
The fundamental rules of kickball are the same as fielding ball.
•
A game ends in a cold game if a lead of 10 points or more is established before the end of the 5th inning.
•
Teams consist of 8 players, and each team possesses a special move.
•
The probability of landing the special move changes depending on the timing.
Gameplay Mechanics
•
The kicker kicks the ball that the pitcher rolls.
•
If the kicker swings and misses or the ball passes by, it is a strike.
•
Three fouls result in 1 out.
•
A runner who reaches a base is out if touched by the ball from a fielder.
•
Stealing bases is not allowed.
Pre-Game Setup
Pressing the RUN button on the title screen takes you to the player selection screen.
•
1 PLAYER: You will conduct a knockout competition against the computer.
•
2 PLAYER: Use multitap to play with 2 people.
After selecting the number of players, proceed to the team selection screen and choose your favorite team.
Mode Selection
For 2 PLAYER, the game starts immediately after team selection.
For 1 PLAYER, you will choose between:
Button I is for confirm, and Button II is for cancel. Note that passwords are related to the team; the password has no meaning if the team differs from the one originally selected. If a backup RAM (CD-ROM, voice of the heavens, etc.) is connected, you can restore from the RAM, though you can only save once.
Attacking: Kicking
Use the D-pad to set the kicker's position.
•
Press the II button to begin the run-up.
•
Press the II button with good timing when reaching the ball to kick it.
•
Press the II button again the instant the ball leaves to execute a Super Kick.
The type of Super Kick varies by team.
Attacking: Advancing to Bases
Use the D-pad to specify the base you want to advance to, and press the II button. You cannot steal a base.
Attacking: Returning to a Base
Use the D-pad to specify the base you want to return to, and press the I button. However, if the runner is currently on the next base, they cannot return.
Attacking: Avoiding Enemy Attacks
There are two ways to avoid enemy attacks while running bases:
•
While running bases, press the I button to jump.
•
While running bases, press the II button to crouch.
Fielding: Pitching
Use the directional keys to determine your standing position, and press the II button to start throwing.
•
Pressing up or down directional keys changes the speed.
•
Up results in a slow pitch.
•
Down results in a fast pitch.
•
Pressing left or right directional key while throwing allows you to differentiate between inside and outside pitches.
Fielding: Magic Balls
Once you've decided your position, press the I button to throw a Magic Ball. There are 3 types of Magic Balls, and each team holds different ones. There is a limit on the number of balls, and the count is displayed in the upper left of the screen.
Fielding: Catching
Use the directional keys to operate the fielders.
•
Fielders occasionally make errors.
•
If you fail to catch the ball, you will fall down and be unable to move for a short while.
Fielding: Catching a Super Kick
By pressing the II button, you can catch the enemy's Super Kick. The II button can only be pressed once per attempt.
Fielding: Throwing for an Out
Use the directional keys to specify the base, then press the I button to throw the ball to it.
Fielding: Hitting a Runner
Pressing the II button hits the runner with the ball. Use the directional keys to specify the runner's position to hit them with the ball. By pressing the II button at the right timing the instant the ball leaves your hand, you can throw a Super Shot.
