Shining Hearts is a 3D party-based role-playing game set on the peaceful island of Wyndaria for PSP. The story follows Rick, a young swordsman who helps a mysterious girl named Kaguya regain her memories after she washes ashore during a great storm. However, their efforts attract the attention of pirates searching for a spirit stone that is embedded in Kaguya's necklace.
The gameplay revolves around exploring various islands, including Wyndaria, and using the ship to visit other islands. The player can upgrade their ship and unlock new features over time. Battles are turn-based, with options to use physical attacks, magic, or defensive moves. Players can also engage in mini-games, trade items with merchants, and solve side quests to earn special hearts. These hearts, which change color depending on the emotion they represent, help Kaguya regain her emotions and unlock new areas of progress.
