B.B.STUDIO Co. Ltd. is a development subsidiary of Bandai Namco Entertainment, formed by the merger of BEC and Banpreto's development division. The studio is best known for developing tactical RPGs in the Super Robot Wars franchise, such as Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen Z Saisei-hen and Dai-3-Ji Super Robot Taisen Z, as well as the RPG Digimon World: Next Order.
The studio's work on the
Super Robot Wars franchise represents a significant evolution in tactical role-playing game design. With
Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen Z Saisei-hen (2012), the developer refined the series' signature strategic grid-based combat and high-quality 2D sprite animations on portable platforms. This trajectory continued into the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita eras with the two-part release of
Dai-3-Ji Super Robot Taisen Z (2014) and its concluding chapter,
Dai-3-Ji Super Robot Taisen Z Tengoku-hen (2015), which expanded the crossover narrative and introduced more complex squad mechanics.
In addition to the main series, the developer branched into the spin-off series
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga with
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Masou Kishin III - Pride of Justice (2013), utilizing 3D battle graphics and a localized, original fantasy setting. Transitioning from tactical mecha simulations to monster-raising role-playing games, the studio also took over the
Digimon World franchise. They developed
Digimon World: Next Order (2016), which revived the open-world, real-time raising mechanics of the original PlayStation classic, later expanding the title for international audiences with an enhanced PlayStation 4 port in 2017.
