About

The NFL Street series debuted in 2004 with the release of NFL Street, which was followed by sequels including NFL Street 2. These games feature fast-paced, seven-on-seven gameplay, exaggerated physics, and stylized depictions of real NFL players playing in urban, backyard-style environments.
Developed by EA Tiburon and published under the EA Sports BIG label, the franchise capitalized on the early 2000s trend of alternative, arcade-style sports titles. The inaugural release, NFL Street, launched in January 2004 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube, eventually earning a placement in the PlayStation NFL Street [Greatest Hits] budget line. To assist players in mastering the game's complex style-point systems and unlockable rosters, Prima Games published official strategy guides alongside the releases.
The franchise expanded in December 2004 with NFL Street 2, which introduced vertical gameplay mechanics like wall-running and off-the-wall passes, alongside a new "Own the City" street-recruitment mode. This sequel also marked the franchise's expansion to handheld platforms with a PlayStation Portable port. Both titles featured licensed soundtracks dominated by contemporary hip-hop and alternative rock artists, cementing the series' cultural aesthetic. While the brand concluded after a third console installment in 2006, the original 2004 duology remains a high point of EA's experimental era, remembered for its deep team customization and multiplayer appeal.
