NFL Street 2 is the second game in EA's arcade football series, where players try to become the world's best urban footballer by conquering other teams using gravity-defying tricks like up-the-wall passes, off-the-wall catches, and highlight-reel wall jukes.
The gameplay focuses on arcade elements with a small number of players and an emphasis on fun, rather than realistic simulation. The introduction of walls as run-up passes and receptions adds new depth to the game, while aiming for posters and hotspots provides bonuses.
Players can compete in 12 arenas (2 unlockable) featuring licensed NFL stars from the 2004 rosters. Multiplayer is available on PS2, PSP, and Xbox versions, with single-player modes like NFL Challenge , where players have to build a team within 150 days to take on a squad of legends. The game's progression system rewards milestones, allowing players to sharpen specific skills to reach the top or beat sufficient teams.
Another mode is Own the City , where players create a new character and must win all street games in the city. This mode introduces the need to recruit new players from pick-up games, with the ultimate goal of beating a team featuring rapper Xzibit and an NFL star squad.
The PSP version is a faithful port with some cut scenes removed, and three new street modes added for Wi-Fi multiplayer: Street Slalom , Style Point Challenge , and Style Standoff . The game supports up to four players on a single PSP in party play modes like the 2 Minute Challenge and Jump Ball Challenge.
