Stellar Blade , a singleplayer hack-and-slash game, is set in a future where Earth is overrun by monstrous aliens known as the Naytibas. The player controls EVE, a sword-wielding female supersoldier whose squad is dispatched to Earth from a colony ship on a mission to capture or kill the elder Naytiba controlling much of the planet.

The game's gameplay involves controlling EVE from a behind-view perspective and performing quick and heavy attacks as well as parrying enemy attacks. Landing a hit or parrying fills EVE's Beta Gauge, allowing her to perform a stronger attack. Later in the game, EVE gains access to other weapons and abilities, including guns, grenades, and special skills like piercing super armor.

Throughout their journey, the player can visit camps to save progress, upgrade skills, and purchase items such as health potions and weapons. EVE's weapon and equipment loadout can be customized to suit different playstyles, and her appearance can be changed with cosmetic items.
