As a direct sequel to Solaris , the game follows the same storyline where the Zylons are attempting another takeover of the galaxy. Your goal is to destroy all Zylon fighters, rescue cadets trapped on Zylon planets, and find the planet Solaris to protect it from the Zylons.
The gameplay revolves around navigating through the galaxy using a galactic map that shows various locations such as Zylon squadrons, planets, federation starbases, wormholes, clusters of stars, and Solaris . You must battle numerous types of Zylon fighters by warping to different sectors. However, your spaceship has limited fuel, and you'll need to refuel at federation starbases before running out.
Additionally, while flying over a Zylon-controlled planet, you'll encounter cadets on the surface that you can rescue for bonus points and an extra spaceship if all are rescued in one pass. The game also features narrow corridors with blockades that require clearing to reach new locations in the galaxy.
Solaris was released on the Atari 2600 in 1986 and falls under the action & adventure genre.
