The player takes on the role of a young male assistant to a picture book writer who is on a European tour for inspiration. However, the writer's ideas are as dry as an empty well, and the protagonist sees this as an opportunity to prove themselves by taking three weeks' holiday in their hometown near Tokyo. After arriving, they team up with Erina, an old friend, and together they explore town, meet people, and uncover local secrets.
As night falls, while walking alone in the woods, the protagonist is caught in a rainstorm. Seeking shelter, they stumble upon a small shrine where they see a flying silhouette zapped by lightning. Injured, a small fairy appears, which the protagonist helps tend to. Upon recovery, the fairy flies away with a smile. The next morning, a strange vision strikes, revealing an unknown place and granting the protagonist magical abilities they don't understand.
The game is divided between the protagonist's hometown, representing reality, and a fantasy Layer world. In both worlds, players can freely navigate maps and interact with characters. Each district has its unique events and characters that appear at different times of day. Battles in the fantasy layer occur on separate combat arenas, requiring real-time strategy to overcome bosses.
