Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan is the sequel to Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City . In this installment, you play as an explorer who has recently traveled to the city of Tharsis. The Outland Court of Tharsis has sponsored a challenge to reach the ancient tree of Yggdrasil, which is visible throughout the land but has never been reached. You travel through the land to discover what's hidden in the roots of this mysterious tree.

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan introduces air travel through a skyship, which are highly customizable and upgradable flying ships that allow you to travel and battle in the air. Combat is turn-based, with your party battling enemies together. To progress through the game, you must find and navigate through multi-leveled labyrinths, where you can find materials to upgrade items, weapons, and armor.
