Starting the Game
•
To start at the first level, press A.
•
To skip to a higher level, enter the code during a pause and press A.
Game Objective
The goal of Crystal Mines II is to navigate each level and collect crystals. To complete a level, the robot must gather crystals totaling the value shown at the bottom right of the screen within the time limit displayed at the upper right.
Digging and Demolition
You must dig through dirt and destroy rocks to progress. The robot uses powerful energy bursts to clear obstacles, requiring multiple blasts for hard, dark dirt compared to light, soft dirt.
Attacking Demons
Energy bursts are effective against demons.
•
Press A to fire an energy burst.
Using TNT
TNT packets are scattered throughout some mines and can blast rocks and demons that resist energy bursts.
•
Move away immediately after dropping it.
Pushing Objects
The robot can push boulders, crystals, and certain rocks to block paths or crush demons.
•
Push boulders onto demons to crush them.
•
Be careful, as boulders can damage the robot.
•
Some dormant demons resemble boulders; pushing or firing energy at them will wake them up.
Gravity Mechanics
Crystals, boulders, and heavy rocks fall when left unsupported. Some mines contain switches that change the direction of gravity.
•
Monitor the gravity indicator in the lower-left corner of the screen.
•
Exercise caution around gravity switches.
Crystal Values
Crystals provide the primary reward and were the lifeblood of surrounding communities. Different types have different values:
•
Yellow crystals are the least valuable.
•
White crystals are the most valuable.
Prioritize collecting high-value crystals to meet your quota efficiently.
Exiting the Mine
A musical cue signals that you have met your crystal quota.
•
Look for an exit circle.
•
Step into the circle to leave the mine and collect your reward.
Hidden Items
Mines contain special tools and bags of precious metals necessary for completing levels.
•
Collect copper, silver, and gold for thousands of points at the end of each level.
Level Structure
The game features 150 different mine levels and 31 bonus levels. As you progress, you will encounter various objects, complex puzzles, and demons.
Pipes and Hazards
Old mines include pipes that demons have repurposed. Items can be pushed into pipes oriented at a right angle to the gravitational force.
•
Objects will slide through the pipes.
•
Some pipes transform boulders into crystals, or vice versa.
Final Instructions
Learn new hazards through experience. Unseal the mines and let the robot in; the future of the community depends on your success.
