Chip's Challenge is a challenging puzzle game where CHIP'S CHALLENGE must prove his intelligence by passing the initiation test to join the "Bit Busters" computer club. To do this, he has to complete 149 increasingly difficult levels, including some hidden ones. The levels require the use of tools such as keys and special shoes to bypass obstacles, manipulating switches to access new paths, building bridges across waterways with dirt blocks, avoiding enemy creatures, grabbing all the computer chips in the level, and reaching the exit before time runs out.

The gameplay is a mix of strategy and quick reflexes. The player has to think ahead and plan their moves carefully, as well as be able to react quickly to avoid obstacles and enemies.
