Tournament Mode
Tournament Mode allows you to work your way up through the ranks of snowmobile racing. You start in the Sport League with amateur racers and bone stock sleds.
As you win races, you will have more points to contribute to your sled attributes. You might even be able to get a better ride as you advance to higher leagues.
Linked Play
Linked Play allows two players to race against each other via the Game Link Cable. Once linked, select Linked Play from the main menu.
The number of races won by either player determines which tracks are available for racing.
Leagues
There are three leagues in which competition takes place. After advancing leagues, you may return to previous tracks to race with your upgraded sled.
•
SPORT: This is the amateur league. All racers in this league ride a standard chassis and have access to tracks one through three.
•
SEMI-PRO: After graduating from the Sport League, you enter the Semi-Pro League. Riders in this league are given the option to compete on tracks one through six.
•
PRO: The final league in which to race is the Pro League. Pro League riders have access to all nine tracks. You win the championship by completing Pro League.
Track Selection
Move the Polaris logo between the available tracks. Press the A Button to select a track to race on. You will then advance to the sled customization screen.
When all tracks in a league have been won, the league advance arrow is available. You may also return to prior leagues to race.
Sled Tuning
An important component of snowmobile racing is sled modification and adjustment. Polaris SnoCross allows you to adjust your acceleration, top speed, and traction according to the track being raced.
You begin the tournament with 3 points to configure your sled. After winning a race, you are granted another point for use on sled configuration. Be sure to assign remaining points to attributes!
Sled Tuning Controls
•
SWITCH BETWEEN ATTRIBUTES: Move the Control Pad Up or Down to switch between Acceleration, Top Speed, and Traction.
•
INCREASE/DECREASE ATTRIBUTE: Move the Control Pad Left or Right to increase or decrease an attribute.
•
START RACE: After distributing your points, press Start to begin the race.
Track Types
Snocross Track
Snocross tracks involve more bumps and jumps on a structured, well-defined course. There are tabletops, double-doubles, whoop-de-doos, banked turns, slush, and other hazards.
Watch out for ice in the turns. Mud will only slow you down.
Cross Country Track
Cross country tracks are more winding with varying terrain such as steep mountain sides, rivers, and lakes.
Oval Track
Icy banked turns lead to fast runs around the track. It's all about speed on the oval tracks.
