The sequel to the chaotic off-road rally racing game, Rally Cross 2 , is a game that aims to build on the original while creating a simpler learning curve. The lead programmer and artist from the first game have left Sony to form a new company called Idol Minds.
Rally Cross 2 retains the rough terrain of the original, with even more jumps and crashes. Players can still race forwards or backwards, but also in suicide mode where cars are racing in opposite directions at the same time. The game features a multi-race season mode and a new track editor that allows players to create their own tracks using different pieces.
The gameplay has been tweaked significantly since the original. Cars no longer flip around corners, instead they fishtail. However, high-speed crashes will still result in an upside-down car. Players can also control attributes such as suspension, tires, and steering, and even personalize their car with paint jobs.
